Donovan's 9 month check up

We can no longer call Donovan fat. He is only in the 80th percentile for weight now, which is 23 lbs. He is still in the 95th for height at 30 inches, so he is still pretty tall for his age. Everything looks good, he only had one shot, thank goodness. He has a very hard time sitting still, so I was a little nervous about shots. He cried a little, but found the cord to a blood pressure cuff and was entertained for a few seconds after the needle went in. He has been a little whiny since we got home, but took a pretty decent nap, which was nice since I have been sick and needed a nap myself. He is getting into stuff right now, so of course he is happy. Dr. Jones told us he should start to understand the word "no", which we have already naturally started telling him, so we will see if he starts to listen when we say it to him. He has his moments, sometimes he will listen to me and stop what he is doing, but when he is bound and determined, I have to physically remove him from the area of temptation. I am sure it is no different from any other child.

Quick story before I finish, I was rocking Donovan while he was having his bottle before bedtime and when I picked him up I noticed he had poop up his back and on his pajama pants, so naturally there was poop on my pants as well. So I cleaned him up and put on mismatching pants and put him in his bed wide awake. He was really quiet so I didn't worry about him and about 5 minutes later he was pounding on the wall, pretty loud I will add. I had to laugh before I went in and he was sitting up grinning and reaching for me. I rocked him for about five minutes and he didn't get sleepy so I put him back in his bed and he was asleep within 2 minutes. He is such a silly boy sometimes. And FYI, he has only gotten poop on me twice now.

Holy Cow!
Donovan is getting so big. He's even bigger than Logan. However, Logan is pretty small for his age. Logan is 13 months now and is only 19 pounds and 29 inches tall. We'll just hope that Donovan isn't a bully. We've been dying for Logan to pass that 20 pound so we can get him in a front-facing car seat, but we can't seem to get him to gain just one pound. It's crazy. We love all your pictures and videos of Donovan. He really is a cute baby.

Only 80th percentile? Feed that kid. He's wasting away! JK! As for only being pooped on twice, I can't believe that. When Mason pooped for the first 12 months of his life he made sure it got on someone or something pretty consistently. You are a lucky mom.

He's a smart kid, knows how to work his mom. Pounds on the wall to get your attention so you can rock him more! He is growing and healthy! 80% is normal for our kids.Give that boy a big hug and kiss from his Granny!

You will be one lucky mamma if he will listen to you when you say no. It seems like whenever we say no to the girls they take it as do that same thing 10 more times again and lets see what happens!

Man they get big fast. I can't believe how big he is at nine months. Kelsie weighed 17 1/2 pounds at her year checkup.

Sure enjoy your posts...You do such a good job describing life with Donovan. Can't wait to see you guys again soon. I hope you're taking the time to either copy these posts over to a journal or doing some separate thing. I wish Tia and I had done this years ago! Take care. dad-in-law
