Recipe Sunday

I was going to post this on Friday, but the day got away from me! This is mostly for Kirsta because she wants more recipes. I tried this the other day and it is DELICIOUS! It's not the exact recipe, but it's pretty darn close. It was surprisingly easy too. I just used Kraft parmesan and it was still amazingly good.

Olive Garden's Alfredo Sauce

Serving Size: 0

Ingredients:
1 pint heavy cream
1 stick butter
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese - (to 3/4)
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Cooking Directions:
In a saucepan combine butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Simmer this
until all is melted, and mixed well. Add the Parmesan cheese and Garlic
powder. Simmer this for 15 to 20 minutes on low. You may wish to season
with a little salt and pepper. It has been made with half-and-half, but
heavy cream is preferred.

This recipe yields ?? servings.

Boring update

Donovan wearing his pants on his head. We are always catching him without his pants!

Wow, besides soccer, not much is going on. Since my last post, Brad's team won 3 more games and suffered their first tie. I guess it had to happen some time, nobody's perfect. Donovan is still growing like a weed and learning many new things. He is constantly jabbering on about something and I love it about 99% of the time, sometimes I'm just too exhausted and impatient to try to guess what he is telling me. Most of the people at the soccer games have more fun watching Donovan than the game. What can I say, he is adorable and so personable! He makes at least one new friend at every game. Yesterday he decided some guy wanted to share his blanket with him, so he plopped himself right down next to him and looked up and grinned. How could anyone resist that? I usually stress myself out worrying about him bothering people, but so far they all seem to love him and get a kick out of me chasing after him. I did get a compliment yesterday, I had to sprint down the hill to get him off the field and when we got back up the hill some guy told me I was fast...I'm glad I keep them entertained.

Here is Donovan doing some of his jabbering, I apologize to Utah family, I need to be better at teaching him names. He just sees his cousins out here a lot more! He calls almost every old man he sees, "Papa". Even his great uncle Larry. He's just cute.

I did take a couple of pictures this week. I got Addi laughing and grinning pretty good one day, but it's hard to get it on camera! We had Addi every day this week and we love playing with her! Donovan is starting to play with her instead of ignoring her which is fun, and scary at the same time. I won't lie though, I'm glad she gets to go home at the end of the day :).

Donovan's awesomeness and other things

Donovan really likes to play the Wii, so I have tried to keep our play time to a minimum. I have only been letting the boys play once or twice a week because Donovan is a little young to be playing video games. His favorite is when we play boxing or Rock Band. This particular day was boxing. He was so funny I had to get it on video. A song plays after you win and Donovan knows it pretty well! The first video is a little long, but Brad's comments make it worth a watch. The second video is Donovan's awesome dancing. Listen carefully, he has rythm.

On Wednesday, Donovan and I made some banana bread. I left it out to let it cool and noticed Donovan walking to and from the kitchen quite a bit, so I went to investigate and this is what I found. I know I should have gotten after him, but it made me laugh too hard! I am a horrible mom that way, I laugh when I should stop him.
If you didn't already guess, he didn't eat dinner that night.
"nana bed"

We went to a Reiver Volleyball game that same night when Bradley got home from work. Donovan was watching the "piyate" the whole time and kept pointing to him telling us what he was. He got out of his seat and wanted to go see him, so Brad took him up to meet him and he freaked out! I guess he didn't think the Reiver would be as big as he was. After that he kept his eye out for him so he wouldn't get too close. I'll admit that it was nice that he wanted his mommy. Everytime the Reiver got close he would cling to me and bury his face in my chest. I guess we should wait a while to go to Disneyland again, when he was 6 months old he loved all the mascots! I think we are slowly passing the fearless stage.
He did enjoy the volleyball though! He was their most adorable fan.

Brad has 2 more away games this weekend. He will be in Kansas and Oklahoma. They leave tomorrow morning around 8 and won't get back until late Sunday night. We sure do miss him when he's gone, but I try to make it fun for Donovan so we can both get through it without getting bored or annoyed with each other! I am really excited for all the home games next weekend. Even though it gets annoying chasing Donovan around, it's nice to get out and support the team...and be around other adults.

He's a boy, it will only get worse

Happy belated Labor Day! We spent the day going to the Lewis and Clark monument and Big Lake Park. It was a nice way to spend some time together. Brad had to get some work done in the morning and he got home while Donovan was still napping so we watched an episode of 24, season 2 before getting out of the house.
The view at the monument was pretty awesome. There aren't many places in Iowa where you can see that far unless you are in a building.
We even got to do some hiking, even though we weren't really prepared for it. I think we are going to head back over there when the leaves change and go a little farther on the trail.
When we got home we had some breakfast for dinner, but Donovan got into the fridge and escaped with the yogurt. He took it down the hallway and dropped it, creating an awesome mess. Brad made him eat the parts that weren't touching the floor before he cleaned it up. It reminded me of the Friends episode when Chandler and Rachel steal that cheesecake and when it falls on the ground, they eat the parts that aren't touching the floor and Joey walks up the stairs and looks at them, pulls out a fork and says, "so what are eating?" That was a good one, Brad and I both had a good laugh about it when I brought it up.
While we were on the Trail at the monument, Donovan fell down and scraped his arm pretty bad. This is his, "I have an ouchy" face. I wasn't too worried about it, I'm sure he'll come home with plenty of scrapes and bruises when he's older. On Wednesday, we had a ward party and we found a way to keep Donovan and Mason close to us, and entertained without having to take them on the playground. They had a blast taking turns with the ball and the bat. So much fun that Donovan didn't want to leave. We had a pretty major meltdown when I told him we had to go home.Cute boys, they have so much fun together when they share!I bought The Beatles Rockband the day after it came out so we have a new awesome game to play. For those of you who don't know, my dad loves The Beatles. There are very few CDs of theirs he doesn't own. I remember taking trips down to Cedar City listening to The Beatles, Nena, or B-52's (yes, my father has varied taste in music, I think I inherited that). Needless to say, I LOVE The Beatles and I love all the songs on the game!

I-dub is still undefeated. They were in Kansas City this weekend and won both games. Brad said they played "poopy", but they beat some decent teams! Donovan and I have been trying to enjoy ourselves while he is gone so we don't get depressed. Yesterday I skipped Donovan's nap and made some linguine with clam sauce (Brad hates seafood so I try to make it when he's gone). Donovan went to sleep at 7:30 and I watched a movie and ate cookie dough and went to bed at 10:30, it was great. Today we did some shopping and running around, took a nap together, went to dinner, got some ice cream, and watched Madagascar. He went to sleep about 10 minutes ago, so I get to have about an hour of alone time before Brad gets home. I'm excited for them to have a home game next week!

Another zoo trip

My boys are so cute. I love when they snuggle up and watch sports together, it means I can go in the other room and read or watch my own show.
Donovan and I took a trip to the zoo on Friday since we didn't have Addi. We did make a trip with Addi a couple of weeks ago, but we had our friend Natalie with us so it wasn't too bad. Donovan needed some one on one mommy time so we had some fun with just the two of us!
He makes the silliest faces. He is getting skinnier, but his face still looks super chubby with his buzzed head! I am going to let his hair grow this fall, I want to see if he looks good with shaggy hair!
While we were in the jungle, some random duck showed up and was walking in our direction. Donovan loved it, but didn't let it get too close. This was what he did to avoid it.He makes me nervous doing this, but he always has to feel the water. And his favorite zoo activity. I felt bad because a few other kids got mad at their moms when they couldn't play. He ran back and forth in the chains for about 20 minutes and was still sad when it was time to move on.He says butterfly pretty well, I was impressed.

Sometimes Donovan walks like this. It is a little silly and it makes me laugh, but I don't know where he learned it.

The Reiver's won their game on Saturday, 17-0. My record for most goals in a game (5) still stands.

Still lovin' the Newsies

He's just cute.

I just had to include this picture for those of you who haven't seen it. Can you tell Donovan wore his Mickey Crocs almost every day this summer?Donovan and I were listening to Newsies in the car one day and he surprised me by repeating the line, "Hey, who asked you?". It was so flippin cute I wanted to pull over and give him a big hug and kiss. He is surprising me by a lot of the things he says, and how well he says them. Other people may not be able to understand, but I sure can! We do have yet to hear a distinction between "shoes" and "juice", we just have to figure that one out by what he is pointing to.

The Reivers won their second season game yesterday against Iowa Central, our region rivals. It was 4-0...unless they have some extremely bad luck, I'm pretty sure Iowa Western will have another Conference Championship this year. So far, Brad is an undefeated coach!
