Donovan has a new disgusting habit. We are constantly telling him to keep his hands out of his pants, but it wasn't until recently that it became the nastiest thing ever. I was just sitting here and Donovan came up to me and wiped poop on my arm...what?! This just started a couple of weeks ago, he has done it three times now. Once after he was finished with his lunch, he dug in his pants and was finger painting his tray (actually not quite as gross as that sounds, it was very minimal...but still pretty gross). Last night when I was gone, Donovan was playing in his room until he walked into the room where Brad was and wiped poop on Brad's pants. It's okay to laugh, I am laughing a little at that one. Brad went into Donovan's room and he had wiped it on the floor too. Then there is the incident today. I guess it's good that he is trying to get it off of his hand...right?! Still, it is completely disgusting and I now have to keep an extra eye on him and make sure he doesn't get the chance to dig in his pants. I am just praying that he never poops again in the morning, I can imagine the mess in his crib! The joy of raising a boy...yikes.

Fun with Mason and cakes
These pictures made me laugh. Lately, Donovan will only cooperate with one article of clothing. It's either a shirt or pants most days, unless we are going somewhere.

They all left us...
Hannah left us yesterday and my parents left us today. We had a very fun and busy weekend with my parents. They got in Friday evening and we just visited, played Wii, and Canasta (the boys played Wii and the girls played Canasta). After that, Hannah stayed with Lenna and Scott for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday we went to the zoo, spent some time perusing the merchandise of the Old Market in Omaha, and had some lunch at The Diner. That evening we met up with Hannah and the Hiatt's at Christy Creme for some blackberry sherbet and went to their house to play Canasta and the Wii. I will admit that my mom and I got annihilated by Lenna and Hannah. On Sunday my mom and I made some chinese food and invited the Hiatt's and Hannah to come over and eat with us. Once again we played Wii and Canasta. My mom and I finally redeemed ourselves in the second game and beat them, fairly substantially. After the Hiatt's went home my mom and I watched Twilight (my dad kind of watched). It still makes me laugh, but I warm up to it a little more every time I watch it. Yesterday we did a lot of driving. My dad has been looking for a coocoo clock and wanted to look at more antique shops so we headed to Walnut, Iowa's Antique City. It's about 40 minutes away so we had time to visit and listen to Donovan cry because he was sick of driving. It was a cute little town and Donovan had a blast running around on the sidewalks. Half of the shops were closed on Mondays, including their supposedly awesome bakery, but there were still quite a few open and we had a lot of fun looking through some of the stuff. Donovan got a good laugh at a few things like astrange looking old indian statue. Unfortunately through all of this I forgot my camera or just didn't take any pictures. When my mom gets home I am going to have her send me some pictures and I will post them. On our way back from Walnut, Donovan fell asleep and was still out when we got home. He stayed asleep when I took him to his bed and slept while we watched a movie and relaxed for a little while. After Donovan's nap, we took the long way to Winter Quarters and saw the temple and went through the visitor's center. I have been there a few times, but it was Donovan, Grandma, and Grandpa's first time there. They all liked it, especially Donovan. There were so many things to touch...and mommy actually let him touch them!! He was in heaven!
Pulling the handcart with Grandpa was fun but didn't last long. Loading the wagon was his favorite part.
He was so focused.
He also liked the map. He could touch a button and things would light up, how much more fun can it get?
He also played with the wheel but I didn't get a picture because the power went out. We went out there at the perfect time...right as the severe thunderstorms and tornado watches were going on.
When we got back, we waited out the storm for a few minutes and then went to Texas Roadhouse in Papillion. My dad really wanted some good midwestern corn-fed beef. It was delicious and we even got entertained by the balloon animal lady. I guess she is there every monday between 6 and 8. She was very entertaining. She made Donovan an elephant and Brad an elephant hat. Donovan preferred the hat.
I love my dad's face in this picture, it's a side not many people see, he can get animated. We had a lot of fun, and now that they have come out and had a good time hopefully they will come out more often! We sure love having visitors! Donovan warmed up to both of them after just a few minutes and had a really good time, but now we have to catch up on sleep! Poor kid was up until at least 9 almost every night. We will miss all of them until our next visit.

Outside Fun
Donovan is having a lot of fun having Hannah around. I don't know what I am going to do when she leaves! We went to the grocery store yesterday and she entertained Donovan the whole time...outside of the cart! He is going to hate me now when I won't let him out of the cart. Oh well, at least he is having fun.
He has been figuring out some fun things this week. He almost figured out how to get his shirt off. He can get his arms and his head out, but not at the same time. Sometimes he walks around with his arms out of his sleeves.Monday was a really warm day so we put on his shorts and jersey and headed to the zoo. It was 80 degrees in Omaha!
Donovan had so much fun running around, and Hannah had a great time chasing him...I'm sure of it.
He discovered the goose fountain in the Garden of Senses. He didn't want to leave, but we found more fun things to look at, so he didn't get upset.I wish we would have taken a picture of him with this statue when he was still roly poly. His cousin Mason has the best Buddha belly picture with this orangutan.
St. Patrick's Day was a fun day. We went to a few stores and Hannah bought Donovan a ball that he loves. Hannah watched Donovan while I cleaned the car...and now it is going to rain this weekend. At least the inside is clean too!Donovan has a new favorite Baby Einstein video. It is Baby Shakespeare. The part he is watching is when Bard, the dragon, is sniffing a flower and sneezes. Donovan cannot get enough of the sneeze, he thinks it is hilarious. I love that he is finding humor in a lot of things now, it makes life more interesting and fun! He is going to have his dad's sense of humor, that is for sure. Just so you know, those jammie pants are way too small, but they are the ones he wanted to wear!

New Desk
Here is our new desk, the new printer is next to the computer. It's great to have some shelf space!
I am going to get a Willowtree figurine of a family and another of mom and baby so we can put the big family one in the middle and the mommy and daddy on the sides. I think it will look cute, hopefully I am right. Yes, that is The Wiggles on the TV.

Hannah's Here!
Hannah got here on Friday so we have had a fun filled weekend. We spent yesterday visiting David and Joyce and shopping at Nebraska Furniture Mart. If you haven't been to Nebraska Furniture Mart, you haven't lived. Seriously though, it is HUGE and they have lots of fun stuff that a lot of people probably can't afford, but they also have a big selection of affordable furniture. We bought a desk and a printer there and we love them. We spent today at church without Donovan (Hannah wanted to go the the single's ward at 1:00, so she kept Donovan until we got home at noon). When we got home we put Donovan to sleep and built our desk. We are so handy. We also got the rest of our pictures and shelves hung when Hannah got back from church. It was nice to get it all done and I love the way it turned out, there are just a few things I want to buy to put in my boxes (WillowTree figurines).
The rest of the week was similar to others. Donovan wanted me to take pictures of him the other day and he was practicing saying "cheese", but it came out as "sszzz".He loves to lie down while he draws and reads. I guess he needs a little break after running up and down the hallway for 20 minutes straight.
I got flowers for the first time since Brad proposed. He knows I love spring type flowers, I would prefer a daisy to a rose any day. Our Presidential Scholars sell daffodils for the American Cancer Society every year so Brad decided to get me some. They took a few days to bloom, but I really like them. This was taken before they all bloomed.
Brad found a game he supposedly used to play when he was younger. It is called "Tanks". Maybe his brother Nate knows what it is, but I had never heard of it. Donovan loves to watch Brad play it. Anytime he hears the game sounds he runs to the computer.
That's about it I guess, we will have way more fun things to blog about after next weekend! My parents are coming to town and we are so excited! Now that we have all of our pictures and things up, my mom won't have to do any decorating this trip :)

It's GONE!
We were just going to trim Donovan's hair so he wouldn't look like he was growing a rat tail or have hair hanging over his ears, but he moved just as Brad was going to cut and got a big chunk of hair cut out of the back. We had no choice but to buzz it all. I was a little sad to see it go, but he looks pretty darn cute with a buzzed head.
Before:
After:Rocking his new haircut with Joan Jett. Apparently he thinks he is pretty bad and doesn't give a *bleep* about it.
I think that was his cutest rockband video to date. He knows how to work it, that's for sure.

Week 2 of the same cold...
I still have my cold. I feel really good one day so Donovan and I will go out and play or I will go workout and the next day it is worse than it was when I first got it. I have decided to be a little lazy until it goes away completely. I think today could be the last day of it. I am sick of waking up tired and stuffy and I think Brad and Donovan are sick of my whining.
Here are a few pictures and a video from the last week.
Donovan likes to climb all over us. If we make the mistake of sitting on the floor, he comes over to us and pushes down so he can climb onto our stomachs. He thinks it is a pretty fun game."I'm so excited."
It got close to 70 degrees on Thursday so Donovan and I made a trip to the zoo (yes, I felt pretty crappy on Friday). It was a lot of fun and we were both drained by the end of it. He loved looking through the fences at the tigers, but I think he just wanted to climb them.
The polar bear was doing a dance as we passed by. When we were walking back from the petting zoo he was still going!
Donovan didn't care too much for the goats this time. He wanted to play in the nasty snow and mud, but I was a mean mom and wouldn't let him. He was not happy, but we found the dairy learning center and that entertained him for a while.
Bedtime snack. He loves popcorn! He usually only takes about 4 bites and then he wants us to pop another bag (we don't).
He was being so silly on Saturday morning. He was wearing my old toe socks and trying to do somersaults.

Recipe Friday
Marie Callender's Cornbread
2 c. Bisquick
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. milk
1 cube butter, melted
Beat eggs. Add milk and butter, then add dry ingredients together. Stir using a fork. Mix just until the lumps are gone. The less you mix, the fluffier the bread will be. Spray a 9x13 inch pan. Put batter into pan. Cook at 350 for 20-25 minutes (they won't get very brown on top).
I made this on Monday to go with the Creamy White Chili. It was delicious. It was the best homemade cornbread I have ever had! We will have to make this when you are here Hannah, along with some yummy chili or taco soup.

pictures and video
Here are a few pictures of our adorable 18 month old. I guess he is almost 19 months old now.
I love his blue eyes! He is so handsome,
and so silly.More rockbanding with Daddy.
Disney movie excitement.
Marching with the elephants on Jungle Book. This is one of Brad's favorite Disney movies and I'm pretty sure it's one that my dad likes too.

18 month check up
Donovan is still very healthy! He is up to date on his immunizations and won't have to get anymore shots until Kindergarten! Hooray! Here are his stats:
Weight: 27.15 lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 34" (90th)-just to give you a feel for how tall he is, the average 27 month old would be about this height.
Head Circumference: 18 3/4" (40th)
So he is still tall, slimming down a bit, and has a tiny head. We hadn't seen Dr. Jones' nurse in a while, I think she had a baby, so when she saw Donovan she was shocked. She couldn't believe how tall and slender he is getting. The last time she saw him he was still a chubby 9 month old. Someone commented to me the other day that he looks like he is 2 1/2. He seems to be ahead of a lot of kids his age physically, but that is just in nursery. I always worry that he is behind cognitively because he still has a short attention span and doesn't say a lot of words, but he is still normal. It's always nice to hear that my child isn't behind, it makes me feel like I'm an okay mom. I can't find our camera, so I will have to post pictures later, this will have to do for now!
