copy cat

Donovan is starting to mimic a lot of things Brad and I do. He cracks us up on a regular basis with his shenanigans.

What a cutie. The Halloween party went pretty well. Donovan was an adorable pumpkin and Mason makes a pretty believable Mr. Incredible.
I'm not sure why, but the people who had the party at their house had a lot of hula hoops. Donovan walked around with one for a while, I would have taken video but it was too dark.Donovan wanted to climb up the slide so bad, but was too tired and couldn't quite make it. That made him angry. I love this face.I have to tell this story because it made me laugh, and then it made me worry about the kind of education our children are (or aren't) getting. At church today, I was teaching the YW the lesson on being healthy. We read D&C 89 (Word of Wisdom) and when we came to the part about tobacco one of the girls asked me a question. Lenna will probably know who it was too. Here is our conversation:
Girl: I have a question, why are they talking about tobacco when it wasn't even invented back then?
At this point I am thinking, 'is she serious?'. I really couldn't tell if she seriously thought that.
Me: Actually it was used a long time before this revelation.
Girl: Are you serious?
I am sure she was thinking of our modern day cigarette. But still, what are they teaching in history? I swear I heard about the growing of tobacco in early American history in the 6th grade. In this same lesson, the same girl got up to write on the board for me and spelled the word excess x-s-e-s-s. Maybe it is just their particular town, or maybe she just doesn't think before she does or says things. This girl cracks me up most of the time though. I try really hard to be polite about correcting things, but I think she does and says dumb things on purpose a lot of the time...at least I hope she does.

Wow. You are more kind than I am. I totally would have made fun of K. Did I guess right? I think she does that kind of stuff for attention. I really don't think she's that dumb. Underwood is actually a more thriving town than you might expect. Now if she were from Avoca...you could dog on the town and the educational system. Cute pictures!

Those are some cute pics, but Nov (pronunced nuv for lurkers. DeAnna doesn't like Don and McRae doesn't like Van, so he took the middle part.) doesn't look too happy...
As you watch Nuv grow and learn I think you're going to realize there are more uneducated than educated people in the world. It's always been that way, but I think it's getting worse with the ineternet and texting. I blame the internet for the escalation in ADHD. Get it fast, even if it's wrong. And when texting, if it sounds close it's good enough. I had always hoped the world was becoming more enlightened, but I'm afraid it's going backwards. Be sure to give your kids any opportunity you can for learning.
Now I'll get off my soap-box and enjoy the pictures some more. LOL

Cute pictures! They are some cute halloween kids. Did they get candy? Play games? Yes, I would agree that most teenagers pull lots of that stuff for attention or a laugh. Your dad has a great point about the internet and texting though. Glen, are you running for an office? You got my vote!:)

Those are the best looking Halloween boys I've seen all year. I hope all of this is spelled right because I don't have my glasses on and can't lean forward enough to read what I'm writing....

Isn't it so fun when your kids start to mimic you. Now you really have to watch what you say and do in front of them because you never know when they will show others what they have learned from mom and dad :) donavon looks so cute in his pumpkin costume.

Donovan is a rockin' pumpkin! I can't get over how much hair he has nowadays. Sounds like you all had fun at the ward party. PS that video is stinkin' cute!

I liked your YW story. I think I will spell excess x-s-e-s-s next time I get the chance! We are still stuck in primary, but each week we have at least one kid that cracks MeChel and I up. Sometimes I am tempted to become a history teacher because I think most kids these days miss out on important lessons they can learn from it. Then I decide that I think I will just teach in our own home. MaKenna and the other children we have will have to put up with a nerdy lecturing father sometimes.
