Halloween and Region Tournament Fun

Halloween was a blast this year. Donovan was so into it! He asked to watch a Halloween show every day last week, it was a lot of fun. He was especially excited about his costume. He got to wear it 3 times this year, it would have been 4 but Brad had his last old man game during the I-dub Halloween party and they were playing in the championship so we opted to support him (they won!)

His favorite part was the tail and this is how he showed it to people. He's pretty stinkin cute, I know.
Donovan with his friend Sydney. Sydney's dad made her a milk carton costume because that's what she said she wanted to be and wouldn't change her mind! It turned out really cute but she had a difficult time walking in it! This was when we went trick or treating at the library.
We went to the ward party on Friday instead of driving out to Des Moines for the Region Tournament on the same day as Brad. I'm glad we stayed the extra day, Donovan was happy to play with Mason in their costumes. Mason was pretty awesome with his light saber.

The sand table kept them entertained for a while...isn't Addi adorable?!

We got up Saturday morning and packed to spend our weekend in Des Moines. Donovan was super excited to take a "trip". The 2 hour drive flew by! Seriously, it wasn't bad at all. He pointed out all of the cows and windmills, listened to music (he tried to sing along, it was pretty cute), and we just talked about what we were going to do when we got there. He didn't really watch the games, but he kept himself entertained!

He loved going on the bus with the girls! We jumped on with them to get some lunch after their game and he got to ride with them back to the hotel while I followed. That night, Brad decided to let them eat dinner at the mall so they could walk around and pass some time. Donovan loved that idea! They had an awesome little area for kids.

Sunday was a little colder and Donovan was a bit of a pill, but I'm still glad we were there.

Once again, the girls are Region Champs! The District Tournament will be at home this weekend! We're pretty excited. 2 more wins and they make it to Nationals!

Brad and his captains.
Brad and the sophomores.
We left shortly after the girls game (ps-the boys won as well so they will be playing this weekend too!) so we could get back to go trick or treating and celebrate Hannah's birthday that was last week. Donovan was really excited!
So was Mason.

They were all ready to go but we made them pose for a few more pictures. Once again, Addi was adorable.

I was so proud of Donovan. We had talked about it a lot and he knew Halloween was all pretend but he was still scared of a witch decoration at Target so I was a little worried. We got to a creepy house that had a chainsaw (leafblower) and some other things and I didn't know how it would go, but he went right up to get his candy! He paused and stared at the electric chair lady for a little while, but he got through! There was also a guy in a huge pumpkin head that I thought he would be scared of so I was talking him through it as we walked up and he turned to me and said, "it's just pretend". After that I wasn't concerned. He was a champ. He and Mason ran up to most of the houses, even when their buckets started to get heavy! Donovan wouln't let me hold it for him, he clung to that candy like his life depended on it! I did take it away in the car and hid it for a little while until we went home. We had a great weekend and we're hoping this weekend is a great one too!!!
