Chamae's 4 month check up and other things

I did a little shopping the other day and found a shirt that fits Donovan perfectly:

Chamae is still enjoying the jumperoo. It's great! It allows me to make dinner, clean up a little, and spend some time snuggling my Donovan. It will probably get used quite a bit in a few weeks when Brad goes out of town for a week...not looking forward to that.

Chamae had her 4 month check up. Everything looks great, she's very healthy. Here are her stats:

Weight: 16lbs4oz - 90th percentile

Height: 26 1/4 inches - 95th percentile

Donovan's stats at that age:

Weight: 17lbs4oz

Height: 26 1/2 inches

So she is just about as tall as he was and just a little less chunky. Again I will ask, where does their size come from?! Do I feed my children too much? Good grief! At least they are healthy, I never have to worry about them getting enough food. I thought Chamae would be a little smaller because she's strictly breastfed with maybe 1 bottle of formula in a week when I'm gone for more than 3 hours. I was so sure that was the reason Donovan was so big! I guess I was wrong, I just have big babies:)

Anyway, so we're supposed to practice eating solids once a day. We tried for the first time this morning and she wasn't having it. She made this face and immediately pushed it out with her tongue.

"What are you trying to feed me? That is disgusting."

Have I mentioned she loves her boys? She loves sitting with her daddy. She's usually very content in this position.
I know I complain quite a bit sometimes, but I love my little family more than I can express. I love all the silly things Donovan says and does, even when they start to drive me nuts by the end of the day. I love that he is so outgoing and will talk to just about anyone. He has no fear, which is okay for now, but we'll need to teach him that when mommy and daddy aren't around, he needs to be a little more cautious. He is so anxious to learn. I worry about everything, if you haven't noticed, and I always worried that I wouldn't be able to teach him very effectively, but he has proven that those worries are silly. He is a lot smarter than I give him credit for and can sit still to learn a concept pretty well. And I know if he can do it for me, he'll be even better for someone else. Chamae is learning and doing things that she's not supposed to yet! Not really, she's at the age, but it has gone by so much faster than it did with Donovan! I hadn't even thought to introduce rattles and books because it doesn't feel like she should be ready for that stuff, but she loves it. She loves all the noisy books and rattles and Donovan is really good to get her toys every day. She's usually surrounded with them most of the time. She adores her brother and he is already very protective of her. A few examples:

Chamae was rolling over to her stomach and her arm got stuck so I made the mistake of jokingly saying, "Chamae, you're going to break your arm." Donovan got really upset and "helped" her roll onto her back again. Now he worries whenever her little arm gets stuck.

Yesterday, when Chamae had to get shots, he was fine until she started screaming. He immediately went to the corner, covered his ears, and started crying. He does not like to see his sister in distress, especially when he can't do anything about it.

He is always concerned when she cries and asks me what's wrong with her. He also never wants her to take naps. When I tell him she needs a nap, he usually says, "no, I want her awake!"

Bradley is a great dad. I often hear, "I want daddy" throughout the day when I'm being a mean mom. Both kids love him and get excited when he walks through the door. He's also a pretty good husband:) We've grown so much together and life keeps getting better! It's not perfect, of course, but I'm pretty happy with our little family.

What have you done with the real Chamae? That's not our little Chamae. She certainly is growing and looking more like a little girl. And Donovan gets more handsome all the time. Hopefully he'll keep being a good big brother and keep an eye on her. There will be those days, though. Don't wait till you think she's big enough or old enough to try new things. Get her going on everything as fast as you can. You'll be surprised how quickly they catch on. And if they don't, there's always another day...

I love big healthy babies! Bradley started small but was a real chunk. You're right, it's amazing how fast they grow up. Always looking and trying new things and pushing their limits. I love Chamae's solid food expression! Classic. It will get better too. I keep forgetting to ask how the preschool soccer training is going. Send me a text or email about it- got pictures? I know i have a couple really cute kids on that "team"!

By the way, your mother used mommy milk mixed in with the dry cereals for the first while to sweeten things up.

Happy Mother's Day!!!
