good grief

After a weekend of Chamae rolling around on the floor screaming and grabbing her ears, I came to the conclusion that she probably had an ear infection.  Was I wrong to think that was the problem?  Does anyone think she would behave this way for any other reason?  I sure didn't.  I was wrong.  I called in the Dr's office as soon as I knew they were in and got an appointment for this morning.  I chat with the nurse a little explaining that she either has an ear infection, or she's the most dramatic child on the planet.  Her response, "Well, she is the second child, and a girl, so she's probably a little more dramatic than Donovan, but that behavior seems a little extreme for it to be nothing."  Doctor comes in, asks a few questions, then checks her ears.  There is fluid, but no infection.  Seriously?  I felt guilty thinking her little ear grabbing screams and rolling around fits were her way of telling me she's in serious pain.  Now I know she just has a very low tolerance for slight discomfort.  I'm never going to know if she's actually in pain because she is so dramatic.  Granted, she does have a cold, but really?  I'm not exaggerating at all, she was literally rolling around the floor grabbing and smacking her ears while screaming on Saturday.  It wasn't as bad yesterday, but she still wasn't happy.   I love the little stinker, but I don't know how I'm going to deal with a drama queen.  I'm pretty sure I wasn't one, so I'm blaming this on the Silvey or Charles side...I guess it could be Newville too, they like to embelish the truth, maybe she likes to embelish her emotions.

Kate throws fits. Colin never did. She will scream and cry for attention and when she feels like she has been wronged. Nate just says, "What do you expect? She's a girl." I guess I have to agree. We're a bit more emotional than the boys.

Charlie would do the same thing and couldn't sleep. The doctors kept telling me that he had no infection, but the fluid in his ears was just as painful. The fluid never really went away and we eventually had to get tubes-no problems since then. If it keeps up, have it treated anyway! It went on for months with us and I felt so guilty afterwards!

Have you met my daughter? DRAMA. Get used to it. It is futile to blame it on anyone other than HER.
