Hannah left us yesterday and my parents left us today. We had a very fun and busy weekend with my parents. They got in Friday evening and we just visited, played Wii, and Canasta (the boys played Wii and the girls played Canasta). After that, Hannah stayed with Lenna and Scott for the rest of the weekend. On Saturday we went to the zoo, spent some time perusing the merchandise of the Old Market in Omaha, and had some lunch at The Diner. That evening we met up with Hannah and the Hiatt's at Christy Creme for some blackberry sherbet and went to their house to play Canasta and the Wii. I will admit that my mom and I got annihilated by Lenna and Hannah. On Sunday my mom and I made some chinese food and invited the Hiatt's and Hannah to come over and eat with us. Once again we played Wii and Canasta. My mom and I finally redeemed ourselves in the second game and beat them, fairly substantially. After the Hiatt's went home my mom and I watched Twilight (my dad kind of watched). It still makes me laugh, but I warm up to it a little more every time I watch it. Yesterday we did a lot of driving. My dad has been looking for a coocoo clock and wanted to look at more antique shops so we headed to Walnut, Iowa's Antique City. It's about 40 minutes away so we had time to visit and listen to Donovan cry because he was sick of driving. It was a cute little town and Donovan had a blast running around on the sidewalks. Half of the shops were closed on Mondays, including their supposedly awesome bakery, but there were still quite a few open and we had a lot of fun looking through some of the stuff. Donovan got a good laugh at a few things like astrange looking old indian statue. Unfortunately through all of this I forgot my camera or just didn't take any pictures. When my mom gets home I am going to have her send me some pictures and I will post them. On our way back from Walnut, Donovan fell asleep and was still out when we got home. He stayed asleep when I took him to his bed and slept while we watched a movie and relaxed for a little while. After Donovan's nap, we took the long way to Winter Quarters and saw the temple and went through the visitor's center. I have been there a few times, but it was Donovan, Grandma, and Grandpa's first time there. They all liked it, especially Donovan. There were so many things to touch...and mommy actually let him touch them!! He was in heaven!
Pulling the handcart with Grandpa was fun but didn't last long. Loading the wagon was his favorite part.
He was so focused.
He also liked the map. He could touch a button and things would light up, how much more fun can it get?
He also played with the wheel but I didn't get a picture because the power went out. We went out there at the perfect time...right as the severe thunderstorms and tornado watches were going on.
When we got back, we waited out the storm for a few minutes and then went to Texas Roadhouse in Papillion. My dad really wanted some good midwestern corn-fed beef. It was delicious and we even got entertained by the balloon animal lady. I guess she is there every monday between 6 and 8. She was very entertaining. She made Donovan an elephant and Brad an elephant hat. Donovan preferred the hat.
I love my dad's face in this picture, it's a side not many people see, he can get animated. We had a lot of fun, and now that they have come out and had a good time hopefully they will come out more often! We sure love having visitors! Donovan warmed up to both of them after just a few minutes and had a really good time, but now we have to catch up on sleep! Poor kid was up until at least 9 almost every night. We will miss all of them until our next visit.

Fun blog! Your dad's picture is priceless. I met a lady here in Mo that reminded me so much of Mindy. I had to keep looking at her to make sure it wasn't her.
What a fun weekend! I bet it was so great to have your parents there to spend time with. Those Goodman men are all the same they really can be silly but for the most part they show their shy quite side :)
So fun! I'm jealous of the good times, as always. We've had a pretty crappy weekend. I'll be sure to blog about it soon so you can be jealous of all the sickness going on out here!
Fun times!!! Isn't it great when family comes to visit. I never can get enough of it though.
Twilight. What can I say? The first time I saw it I went with all the Clark girl cousins and aunts and they were all swooning over it and giddy. The first 3/4 of the movie I sat their laughing and rolling my eyes because it was so dripping with mushiness and corniness. But somehow by the end I actually began to think that all the vampires were kind of cute and romantic in a way! I don't know how that happened, but somehow by the end of it you start thinking that the movie was tolerable and not too bad!
I love your dad's face! I see him make it quite often, and it makes me laugh because sometimes I catch my dad making the same exact face!!
We had a really good time. We even had fun with Donovan's mom and dad. It's going to take a week to get back to normal sleep routines.
Tell me about it, Donovan is taking a while to get back to normal. He has been extra whiny and clingy today.
Yeah, so has gramma Mindy... :)
I wish Hannah and I could have had a chance to redeem ourselves, one last time. Maybe next time. People should really come visit Iowa more often...they always have a good time! Glad you had the chance to play with your padres!
Looks like so much fun!!!
