My adorable little BULLY!

Don't let the adorable face fool you.

There were times when I told myself I was going to make sure Donovan was tough so he could stand up for himself. Not fight or be a bully, but not take crap from people. One of the kids in nursery is a real punk and pushes kids over for no reason so I mostly wanted him to protect himself from that little boy. I don't think I actively told him to push kids back, but we did teach him to tell us to go away. Whoops. We went to the library this morning and he was actually doing really well. He played close by me while I picked out some books and wasn't as loud as usual. Then some 4-5 year old kid came over to play with the toys Donovan was playing with and Donovan pushed him and said, "go away". I immediately walked over and told him we are nice to people and keep our hands to ourselves, we don't push. I also told him to say he was sorry and he said, "no" and tried to kick the little boy!! How do you teach a 2 year old to apologize? He is so good at saying "please"and "thank you", but he won't say, "I'm sorry". I felt so bad. The little boy told both of his grandparents and they were really nice about it, knowing Donovan is young, but I still felt really bad. I guess I have to teach him not to pick on wimps. Watching him push that kid kind of reminded me of my little brother Tyler. He has always been one of the smallest kids his age and instead of being bullied, he was the bully!! At least I have time to correct it before he goes to school!

Oh just keep explaining to him when situations like that occur. Sooner or later like anything else with kids it will click! I mean what do we expect kids sure will be kids!

Shoot, I promise I left a comment days ago. I think you handled the situation perfectly and he will catch on eventually. He's mostly trying on the "2's". He's a smart one and probably understands more than you think.

Hahahaha...I know I shouldn't be laughing at his, but I'm sorry - that is SUPER funny that he was bullying a kid that had a couple of years on him! Hahahaha :)

So, when I walked into nursery yesterday I walked in to find Daniel with 2 hands around Donovan's neck. Beth was putting out a fire somewhere else and Carianne...well...not sure what she was doing...but Donovan shoved him and said something unintelligible to him and then walked away. I thought that was a very appropriate response. Don't worry. I made sure to tell Daniel how inappropriate his actions were. I don't think he cared.
