I give up

I am no longer pushing the potty thing. Donovan just isn't ready. Every time he peed his pants, he didn't seem to notice so I'm taking that as a sign. I think I'll wait until it's a little warmer so he can run around naked and figure out how his functions work. I'll just have to be patient!

I love my little boy so much. I even love him when he wakes me up at 6:00 every morning :). He is so handsome and silly. Last night, we had Jordan's girlfriend over for dinner and a movie (Whip It, very entertaining). Donovan just ran up and down the hall while we watched the movie. He had a whole routine going, he would silently count on his fingers, throw his hands in the air and take off into my room where he would jump on the bed for a few seconds then run back into the living room and do it all over again. I can't tell you how many times he did it, but Kolay and I had a good laugh. He's getting really good at forming sentences, even though they don't make sense to most people. I still have to interpret for Brad sometimes. I never thought I would be able to decipher what he is saying, but I have most of it figured out now. Sometimes it takes me a few minutes, but I always figure it out. He loves to count to ten. He won't do it when we ask him to, but I hear him in his room counting his toys all the time. He loves to play with his stuffed animals and loves when his mommy talks as the character. He always brings me Goofy and says, "Hiya Pal". That's my cue to be Goofy. He also likes to play with his dog puppets, Rocky and Ivory...well, he likes when I play with them. I spend the majority of the day crawling on my knees pretending they are chasing him and barking. He thinks it's hilarious, but it gets a little old for me. The other day, he brought me Goofy and a bowling pin to play "tennis" (this is what he calls hitting his big ball back and forth with bowling pins). He made sure to tell Goofy, "keep a ball a gwound, Goofy" (yes, that is my attempt at how he speaks). At least he knows the rules when we play with the ball in the house, I just wish he would follow them! Donovan is really missing his daddy. Kids really do know when something isn't the way it should be. Whenever Brad is out of town, he wakes up in the middle of the night or cries in his sleep. It's really sad, so I'm really glad that this is Brad's last trip without us for a while! I'm glad we have Kolay, Donovan loves her! Jordan is in Utah with Brad, so Kolay and I are trying to keep each other sane and entertained. It's always so sad when we take Brad to the airport, Donovan gets really upset when he has to stay in the car and can't go on the plane with his daddy. I'm ready for summer when Brad won't have so much going on.

What a cutie! I love that he is so imaginative. It's funny how well you understand your own child. I feel like Sarah talks way more than just the few words she knows.

I think you are smart to just wait until he is ready for the potty training. That will just be lots less stress for you and him!
