Snow, snow, and more snow...oh yeah, and extremely cold temperatures

If you haven't already heard it on the news, the midwest has been experiencing some extreme winter weather. We've been in a snow emergency for the last few days and it's been in the negatives every morning so schools were closed yesterday, and again today. I did my grocery shopping on Saturday to last us at least 2 weeks so I wouldn't have to go outside. I haven't been anywhere since Monday and I've only been outside a handful of times to take out garbage and get mail. Hopefully we can get out of the house today because I'm going a little crazy.

Donovan and I have used this extra time we've had to play lots of games and finally get to playing with all of his Christmas presents. He really likes his Cootie Bugs that Mason got for him and actually spends a lot of time on them. He always has to make sure the head and body match, it's pretty funny. I will make one with a different colored head and body and he takes them apart and fixes my mistake.

With the freezing cold temperatures and a vacant apartment above them, a pipe burst in Lenna and Scott's complex and their apartment flooded. Brad went over to help them move things to prevent any damage to their stuff and brought Mason home to spend the night with us. Donovan was in heaven. He loves having Mason over! They played all kinds of games and had a lot of fun together. Even when they both wanted to play different games and tried to convince each other to play their game.
They watched Donovan's new favorite movie, Ice Age 3 (it was the 3rd time watching it that day for Donovan) and had some popcorn and chocolate milk.
Then Brad read them books before bed. This arrangement didn't last. Donovan couldn't stop giggling so when we went to tell him if he wasn't quiet Mason would have to sleep in another room, Mason said, "I want to do that". So Mason slept on the floor in our room, I think he was pretty tired and was getting annoyed with Donovan's noise. I knew it would be tough to get them to sleep in the same room, when Donovan's excited, it's impossible to get him to be quiet!I wish I had a better video, right when I pulled out the camera they started to calm down. They had been running around going crazy with Donovan's guys and airplanes.

The weather is supposed to get a little more mild in the next few days, so I'm looking forward to getting out of the house sometime soon!!

I'm so glad the boys love to play together! They are funny and cute! I know Lenna and Scott appreciated the help and looks like the boys had a great sleepover!

That kid loves his popcorn, doesn't he? I've tried to check snow pack there, but I haven't been able to find much, except that school buses were snowed under in Omaha and I've seen it's colder there than here. That's too bad about the flood. I hope there wasn't a lot of damage, but even then, the inconvenience sure is inconvenient... You would think the manager would have some heat on during cold weather, but I guess ya gotta jump over those dollars to grab the pennies.

I REALLY need to stop complaining about the weather where I'm at :) Haha.

I'm glad Mason and Donovan had fun. He coped with chaos quite well at your place, I would say. Those boys sure are funny together! Do you remember when Mason used to feed Donovan bottles? They sure are growing up!

That's pretty crappy about the weather. I guess I should be thankful for the winters here. I only leave my house about once every 2 weeks too, but that's because I'm paranoid about Kate getting sick.

It is always tricky in the winter time trying to find things to keep the kids busy when you can't really go outside.. looks like you guys are managing ok though with lots of fun things to do.

I love Donovan's bed. I can't believe he's that big already. Looks like Brad fits in well with the two boys, reading stories.
